The World’s most northern baja style rally.
4 days, 500+stage kilometres, re-entry rules, – “its fantastic”.
The Iceland Hill Rally has been running for over 12 years and is based on two original concepts, one created by a local Icelandic family, called McKinstry, they hosted one back in 2010. The other originating concept was the popular hill rally series in Scotland created by Ian Sykes who is co-founder of this Icelandic event. 2024 we received sponsorship from the Can-Am dealer in Iceland, Ellingsen. We still have the same sponsorship for 2026.
Our stages are long by UK and French FFSA standards at 70k, some are shorter but our regulations require that you can traverse 90k without re-fuelling.
The terrain is stunning, with slower technical sections between and over the old and new lava fields, to fast power sapping black volcanic sand plains. Of course there are a few river crossings (the image is a flood section drying out but still over 2.25k across). The scenery amazing, with vivid greens, ice blues and the every present 50 shades of black and grey.
The first full day of racing begins with the now Legendary Hill Climb, from the stage start a 5.5k climb to over 690m can you beat the 2025 record, 12 minutes 38 seconds? Then you begin the start of a long very mixed surface stage.
The event is divided into LEGS or parts of the day and you can re-enter the rally at any of the LEGS. Keep having fun.
We have arrangements with the two Icelandic container shipping companies, the base price is around 2000 euro, return from any EU/UK port serviced by them.
Entry fee for 2026 will be announced soon. There is an optional accommodation package available for the rally’s Friday and Saturday nights, be part of the after event party. Details in the regulations and in this website – when available.
The hill rally is open to any T1, T2, T3 or T4 cross country vehicle as defined by the FIA . In addtion if your vehicle has has been accepted and entered either a UK hill rally or a French FFSA event, it will be accepted in Iceland. Sorry we do not allow Bikes, Quads or Trucks.
